Old Negatives is a collection of four songs that act as a bridge between early Forest Fires recordings and their forthcoming debut album. Perhaps familiar to anyone who has caught their incendiary live shows over the past couple of years, the tracks range from soaring grunge pop ('Jangle') to unsettling prog mini-epics ('Born Screaming'), documenting frontman Scott Bruce's social, personal and political unease. Intricate yet uninhibited, the EP's riffs and rythms showcase an alternative-rock band increasingly augmented by math rock and post-rock influences, taking cue from the likes of Deftones and The Mars Volta.
